Heartland Child Nutrition Healthy Eating
Heartland Child Nutrition - A healthy choice for childcare
  Skip Navigation Links
What a comfort it is to know that while you are at work or school, your child care provider is serving your child healthy meals with help from Heartland Child Nutrition, a sponsor of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). A national family child care study reported that participation in the CACFP is an indicator of a quality child care program. If your child care provider is not participating in this food program, encourage her/him to enroll for her/his financial benefit and for the health benefit to your child.

To participate in this program, your provider agrees to have one of our staff visit her/his home at least three times per year to provide additional training in nutrition , menu planning and recordkeeping. Your provider also receives our bi-monthly newsletter; nutrition education activities for children; and access to your lending library of books, tapes and videos on nutrition topics.

The provider enrolled in the Heartland Child Nutrition program will be reimbursed for meals and snacks that follow the USDA Meal Pattern. This financial support helps assure that your child receives the necessary nutrients to grow strong and stay healthy.
